Well said! I hate how little respect is given to pretty much anyone in the medical field overall, sans physicians. I do believe they deserve, though--because of all it entails (my SIL is a pediatrican :). Although, Kev's FD dose take in a lot of traumas, fights the fires, etc., he's also had more than his fair share of pediatric patients--in fact, he just saved a baby from choking two shifts ago! But I guess that's the nature of a city/village/whatever protected solely by a FD--the wide variety and range of patients to be seen, transported, whatever. (And ugh, his stories of intraosseous infusions make me feel SO sick!) But I think all medics need to shower before coming home and dealing with their own kids--I think as soon as you lay a (gloved) paw on anyone, you need to hose off, no pun intended. :) And yeah, you definitely have the weight off your shoulders that your husband isn't the one running into a burning building when everyone else is running out. While I love his job and am endlessly proud of him, there have been *several* occasions--especially on his old dept--where I felt like I was pretty much holding my breath until I heard from him. :p Nature of the beast, though... :)

<3

IS this what you guys were talking about at Thanksgiving? I am just reading this now. All I can say is I'm speechless. You are an amazing Paramedic Todd! You are where you're supposed to be. If you weren't there, who else would have done that? Awesome story. We need more people like Todd!

Whew.... I could'nt get to the end of the story fast enough. Has Todd asked at Hope on the baby's status? I.O. is weird, I had to practice on a chicken, which is very different from a fat cute chubby thigh. The worst place I ever had to start a infant I.V. was scalp but it was a last effort before a P.I.C.C. (Todd will understand)
Is it okay if I call him a HERO that drives a car?

Wow, that is very exciting. That is why I love nursing. I love to help people. Great Job Todd! I would have been in right there with you. What a brave little kid too. Hey did I tell you, I have one more clinical. My nursing role transition. Its at Loyola in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. I am very excited. I am also most done. One test, a paper, power point presentation, 2 ATI tests, and two finals until I am done. Yipee! ~Jill~
