Patience

Ava’s room is almost done. The carpet comes on Wednesday, and then we can get everything in there. So, she’s making the most of it for now and finding her own way to be patient.

Project 320

This is amazing. I want to do this. And you should too. Why? Because if you did any of the following today:
Took a shower.
Brushed your teeth.
Filled the coffee pot.
Filled the Christmas tree stand.
Ran the dishwasher.
Ran the washing machine.
Used the toilet.
Washed your hands.
Did some more dishes.
And lots more laundry.
Rinsed salad greens.
Ran baths.
Topped off your iron.
Gave your kids glasses of fresh, clean water.
…then you need to envision what it would have been like if you couldn’t have done ANY of that.
Do this. Seriously. I’m so excited to!!
His timing is perfect.

Todd has been worrying about things the last couple days. He’s still out of a job, but he hasn’t been actively looking. That doesn’t bother me in the least. I like having him home, and I see such a change in him. He’s happier and healthier. And we’re doing good with the blessings God has given us.
But I do not have anymore weddings booked. At all. I have some meetings with some potential clients, but as of right now, I have nothing booked. And he has no job. So, naturally, he’s been worried the last couple days. He’s thinking about insurance, and the house, moving and school, and, well, everything. He’s not stressed. Like I said, we have more than enough to take care of us right NOW. And actually, the blessings keep coming in. But it won’t last for long, and I’m sure God doesn’t want us to get lazy. So, he’s worrying about getting a job. Where, and when, and all that.
God is stirring our lives right now. He has more in store for us. We have been very happy at Parkview Church. We are fitting in, volunteering, I’m looking for a home group. Ava loves the kids program (we do too!) and she wants to pray, she wants to know more about God. She loves going to church. Todd and I have been wanting to get back into the bible, and Todd remembered that Parkview has a bible-reading plan on their website. So, he went online and found that according to the schedule, today is Matthew 6. I was wondering if we should just start with Matthew 1, but he figured we’d just try to stick to the schedule and see what happens. So, (with all his worries in the back of his head) he opened it up and began to read. Matthew 6:25-34 says:
25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Todd came to me right away (and he wants me to mention he did NOT have tears in his eyes) and read me that passage. We prayed and we thanked God for slapping us in the face with scripture, and for all of the blessings He has given us and asked Him to continue to show Himself to us. God is so good. All the time. And His timing is perfect. He knew Todd (and I)needed to hear that. He’s so awesome.
On Turning 30
Posted on August 31, 2009
I turned 30 on the 13th. How do I feel about that? Honestly? I feel great! First of all, I LOVE birthdays. I have yet to be afraid of turning another year older. It doesn’t bother me in the least. Am I aware that I’m another year closer to 70? Of course! And I’m so excited about that! When I’m 70, I won’t be working anymore. I will be able to do what I want, when I want, and I’ll be crochety (and justified) if anyone tells me differently. I will have people making sure I have my needs taken care of. I will have beautiful grandbabies and even possibly some great-grandbabies. I will be wise in all things on life and love. I’ll have beautiful wrinkles (signs of wisdom in my eyes) and long straight white hair, like my grandmother. I won’t worry about my weight anymore. I won’t worry about my clothes or my hair or my makeup. I really don’t see the problem. The only thing that worries me is that I may not have all of my friends and family around. I don’t even really want to think about that. That will come when it has to. Other than that, I can’t really see a bad side to turning older.
So yea, I feel pretty great about 30. I’m happy in my life, and I can’t really ask for more. I enjoy getting older, and I enjoy birthdays. Everyone of them. Plus, I get all the attention for the day. Can’t go wrong there!! (That’s my Leo talking.) So, thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Free Renaissance Faire Tickets!!
Posted on August 24, 2009
My husband and I are geeks. It’s true. He loves comic books and super heroes and I love Star Wars and ghost hunting. We play World of Warcraft and Magic the Gathering. And we’ve gone to the Bristol Renaissance Faire for the last two years, and we plan to make it every year. And yes, we want to dress up too. We just don’t have the $1000+ it would take to be outfitted. So yes, my name is Christina, and I’m a geek.
The other day we went to the Ren Faire and we won free tickets to come back. We had a great time- I really love it there! The atmosphere, the humor, the people are SO FREAKING NICE, and the acting and the characters are fantastic. But I don’t think we’ll be able to go back again this year, and there are only a few more times to go.* So, the tickets are yours!
For a price. Only you don’t have to open your wallet. You just have to open your soul.
To enter the contest, you just have to make a comment below and expose your inner geek! Or, if you wear your geek on your sleeve, tell me what makes you so geeky. And if you don’t have an inner geek- you’re lying. Even if you don’t want to go to the Ren Faire, you know someone geeky near you, so win it for them!
I will randomly select a winner out of the comments (using random.org). One entry per person. Contest ends at 9pm CST Wednesday evening, Aug 26th. The winner will be announced that evening.
Good luck!!

Posted on August 10, 2009 Todd has been checking out these funny Demotivational posters on despair.com. I found this one pretty awesome, and very true. At least it seems true. But then sometimes, I hear someone say something like “I read your blog!” You do?! How many of you are out there?! I’d love to know who reads my blog! I like having fans! And idolaters! Ok, well, not really idolaters, but readers is fun. Anyway, leave me a comment if you’re a reader! Kthxbai.
